Bilbao is not in Spain

With Dr Woof & Aletia Upstairs

Britain’s furriest drag artiste and the capital’s sexiest cabaret artiste (who is also a PhD scholar) combine their unique talents for an evening of song, banter and audience participation as only this duo can.

Woof & Upstairs present a cabaret featuring an intriguing mix of genres from Weimar Cabaret to Kander & Ebb and the incomparable Fascinating Aїda with the supremely gifted Sarah Bodalbhai on keys.

The outrageously, sassy, sultry Doctor Woof explains (as he removes his stethoscope and asks you to cough up your troubles)
“We explore the concept that everything in life is not quite what it seems. Through a series of scenarios we take our entranced audience on a journey that is an examination of life covering queerness, multiplicity and the challenging of stereotypes. Expect lashings of glitter, feathers and fishnets coupled with clever naughty songs while we ask the tough question: Are you living life as the authentic you?”

As so many great duos have done in their time, Aletia Upstairs and Doctor Woof met backstage at the Black Cap, ominously, this was a mere four days before it closed down. Since that meeting they have both sung with the London Gay Big Band and featured as ‘Pride’s Got Talent’ finalists. Subsequently these award winners have performed as a duo on numerous occasions.

Most of their rehearsal time is spent trying on costumes, pissing about and getting drunk, so not much work ever gets done. This means their act is a finely balanced blend of light and dark comedy with lots of corpsing and memory lapses. There is never any sign of a discernible script, beginning or end. All they ever know is that the show must end with ‘The Curtain Falls’ – the rest remains to be seen.
