“You’re good.” was the verdict by infamously difficult to please Naomi Campbell on a David Robson DJ set at Heaven
A favourite on London’s LGBT+ scene for more than 10 years, David has played his personal mix of dance, pop, synth, R&B, soul, groove and funk at every major LGBTQ+ venue in London.
He started his DJ career in 2002 in his hometown of Darlington (at their weekly Monday gay night) before moving to London in 2004 with the ambition of making it on the capital’s LGBT scene.
After graduating from Roehampton University in 2007 and finishing a brief career in student politics, he burst on to the scene in 2008 by starting his own club night ‘Sweet Dreams’ at the now closed Trash Palace and playing guest spots at the Soho Revue Bar and Village.
He started a decade of high-profile club residencies in 2008 with the Pop Room and Main Floor at G-A-Y/Heaven before moving on to the Fur Lounge at XXL in 2015 until it’s closure in 2019. Over this time, also held bar residencies at Halfway to Heaven, Retro Bar, Duke of Wellington, The Bridge Clapham and the 2 Brewers.
David has been involved with us here at The RVT since 2012 working with some of the capital’s best-known performers and DJs and from 2014 has been producing and hosting his own events as part of the diverse RVT programme including: LUV Madonna, Pop Pickers, Trashy Queen and Queer Question Time.
Away from the decks, he also hosts London’s longest running LGBTQ+ Film club ‘Out at Clapham’ at the Clapham Picturehouse and runs various LGBTQ+ community projects across London with the Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Forum.
Catch him here for guest DJ spots at Duckie, Sunday Social and Pop Pickers!
