Charity Partnership

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern is proud to work with a range of charities, large and small covering LGBTQ+ and health issues. Our promoters, performers and staff have worked hard to raise much needed money to create awareness for their charities and in the past decade more than £800,000 has been raised by events at RVT and Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

RVT is the Gateway to Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. The biggest event in our calendar is the much loved RVT Sports Day which over the past two decades has become a highlight of the year for the whole LGBTQ+ community in London. It normally happens on August Bank Holiday Monday in the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and sees the LGBTQ+ community come to see teams compete in the extraordinary ‘sports’.

RVT regulars, promoters and people from other LGBTQ+ venues and organizations get themselves into teams and “the community spirit of the day” and take part in a series of fun and competitive races and challenges including the 50 metre power mince and throw the handbag, there’s also a tug or war and a team dance off. Hosted by Timberlina each team raises money via sponsors and for the past few years money has been raised for LGBT Hero, the health equality and rights organization for LGBTQ+ people. It’s a brilliant day that not only raises money for a great cause but brings the LGBTQ community and the Vauxhall community together.
