A musical British comedy featuring the Spice Girls that could almost have been made by Monty Python, but wasn’t. The film is a light-hearted take on fictional events leading up to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall interspersed with flashbacks, dream sequences and humorous asides plus featuring cameos from Barry Humphries, Richard E. Grant, Meatloaf and Alan Cumming amongst others.
The Spice girls play themselves and the film became a box office hit and broke the world record for the highest ever weekend debut for Super Bowl weekend grossing outrageous *amounts of money at the box office. Perplexingly, despite its phenomenal box office success the film was a critical flop and received predominantly negative reviews. Well you can’t please everyone.
This film is 20 years old this year – but remains forever young in our hearts. Happy Valentines darlings. (Don’t say we don’t love you)
Doors open at 7pm and screening begins at 8pm.
